NOTE: MY WATCHLIST HAS FAR EXCEEDED 5,000 PROFILES. I WOULD LIKE TO PASS SOME OF THEM OFF TO OTHERS MORE CLOSELY RELATED TO THE SUBJECT OF THE PROFILE. IF I HAVE CREATED A PROFILE FOR YOU OR AN ANCESTOR/DESCENDANT OF YOURS AND YOU WISH TO BECOME THE PROFILE MANAGER, I WILL GLADLY ADD YOU OR TURN IT OVER TO YOU COMPLETELY. SIMPLY ASK. I AM AGGRESSIVELY ADDING EVERY DESCENDANT OF ANY ANCESTOR OF MINE AND WOULD LOVE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CARE TO OFFER! Note: If you are reading this because I was the source of documentation and sourcing of profiles related to your ancestors yet I no longer manager their profiles, I am still fully willing to assist with ANY profile I have been involved with. Simply reach out to me via E-Mail or Wikitree messaging and I will lend a hand wherever possible. I have started removing myself as profile manager of spouses of my genetic relatives. However, I would gladly assist with these profiles if you have anything to add to them. Please let me know if you want/need assistance.

MAYFLOWER LINEAGE: As of 06 December 2020, this link is undocumented and is in the process of being researched and documented. The sticker is here because I believe it might be true and I want a reminder that I need to continue researching it! If this offends anyone, please let me know and I will remove it. At present, I believe I might NOT be a descendant of John Tilley, rather simply a genetic relative going back to the later 1400s or early 1500s.

I am currently attempting to research and document both ancestors and descendants of the following Ohio based Timmons/Timmins patriarchs (basically I looked for any Timmons/Timmins family that existed in Ohio between 1800 and 1850 and looked for the earliest known ancestor and began documenting everything I could. Any help would be appreciated. I only enter the individual into Wikitree if I can provide at least some concept of documentation of the parental relationship.).

  1. Charles Timmons [1751-1819] (Jeff Timmons' purely paternal [AKA yDNA) 3rd great grandfather)
  2. John W Timmons (1785-1855) (50+ descendants of John have been identifed and documented here on wikitree. Several more are mentioned in the biographies but it isn't appropriate to create their profiles. I believe there is a reasonable chance that John is the son of my Charles Timmons and a yet to be identified 1st wife. John' descendant Alice Cookus is an AncestryDNA match (39cM across 2 segments) to Jeff Timmons. John's descendant Jon Eugenio (3rd great grandson of John W Timmons and son of Barbara (Hornung) Eugenio) is an AncestryDNA match (40 cM across 2 segments) to Jeff Timmons. Tammy Lang (John's 4th great granddaughter and granddaughter of Charles Robert Cookus) is an auDNA link to Jeff Timmons at AncestryDNA.com (17 cM across 1 segment).)
  3. Mitchell Timmons [1804-1866] (likely father Leonard Timmons)
  4. Cyrus M Timmons [1804-1872]
  5. Lorenzo Dow Timmons [1811-1861] (LIKELY father Edward Timmons and this line goes back much further now to [[Timmons-1189|John Williams Timmons (1620-1680] - Ireland]) As of May 2021, it appears that this line is well documented by others so I am not actively researching this line.
  6. William Perry Timmons [1821-1903] (possible father Daniel Timmons)
  7. George Augustus Timmins [1824-1885] (a confirmed DNA match to me) (Possible father John Timmins)
  8. Benjamin F Timmons [1828/1830-????]] (I personally know one of his descendants who lives in Columbus, Ohio - If you believe you are related to him, please contact me and I can put you in contact with a direct descendant of his who carries the Timmons surname.)
  9. Jesse Timmons [1795-1855] Born in Maryland, died in Madison County, Ohio
  10. Peter Timmons [About 1775-Unknown]
  11. Melvin Arthur Timmons, Sr [1913-1997] (father of the publisher of The Timmons Family Newsletter, ancestors lived in Ohio. Appears to trace back to the well documented William and Priscilla Timmons. No effort to document by Jeff YET.)

I, Jeff Timmons was born in the 1950s in Central Ohio, United States. I am the son of Robert Lacey Timmons, III of Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio, United States and Jane Anne (Dodge) Timmons/Kenan of Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia, United States. I am married and have 1 son to carry on the Timmons line.

My Personal Brick Wall Ancestors:

3rd Great Grandfather Charles Timmons (1751-1819) - Wife is Mary Magdalena (Forney) Timmons (1774-1850). Who are Charles' parents? His wife's lineage is well documented in Pittis Genealogy, so no help is needed there.

2nd Great Grandmother Eliza (Glass) Brown (1835-1919) - Her father was most likely Aaron Thompson Glass (marriage records simply show Thompson Glass). Who was her mother? Eliza's mother is my youngest ancestor not yet CLEARLY identified. Is Thompson Glass actually Aaron Thompson Glass as linked on other genealogical web sites without convincing documentation? (this parental connection has been made on wikitree). Since adding this note I have concluded that I have likely identified her parents but the support is unclear. Still looking for better records and/or DNA links but the profiles of her parents have been added and documented to the best of my ability at present.

3rd Great Grandfather Thompson Glass (aka Aaron Thompson Glass) - He is the father of Eliza (Glass) Brown. Who are his parents? Who was his wife? There are multiple people name Thompson Glass in that area. I need compelling information as to his parents. It seems quite likely but not proven that his parents were Henry Vincent Glass and Mary Jones. The profiles of his likely parents are here on wikitree but I would appreciate any further support.

2nd Great Grandfather Valentine Dohn - Need sources confirming his parents clearly and concisely. Likely parents are already identified on Wikitree.

Jeff received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from Otterbein College (since changed name to Otterbein University) in Westerville, Franklin County, Ohio, United States.

Jeff received his Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University[1]

Jeff is married. He and his wife have a son who is highly energetic and enjoys a variety of sports (and sadly too many video games to mention......).

NOTES TO FELLOW GENEALOGISTS (AND THOSE WHO ARE SIMPLY CURIOUS) REGARDING MY STYLE AND STANDARDS

  • If you encounter a profile I have worked on (without regard to whether I still manage it) and you have additional information but lack the desire or knowledge to add to the profile, PLEASE let me know what you have and I will gladly make the updates for you.
  • I have a strong interest in DNA based genealogy and as a result, I have taken quite a few DNA tests. If you wish to discuss DNA based genealogy or need help with which test to take or how to use your results, I am more than willing to help. If you might be related to me I am even more willing to help. I would love to check a few more 'confirmed with DNA' boxes on my tree.
  • If you ended up here wondering why someone documented one of your ancestors and then abandoned the profile, there are a couple possible explanations. 1. Wikitree doesn't like people being the profile manager of a large number of profiles. I exceeded their soft limit quite a while ago. I have been removing myself from profiles that are NOT genetically related to me (one such example is spouses of my genetic relatives). 2. I have a strong interest in several surnames, cemeteries, and locations and on occasion I have documented individuals who carry a given surname (i.e. Timmons/Timmins), a given cemetery (i.e. Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery), or lived in a given location (i.e. Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio). In these cases I documented the profile and then removed myself as profile manager.
  • Although I manage quite a few profiles, I am not a control freak. If you want/need access to any profiles I manage, I am more than willing to add you to the trusted list of most any of the profiles I manage. I am even willing to make you the profile manage and remove myself in many cases. The only exceptions to my willingness to add such access is if the profile represents a living person. If the profile represents a living person I am only willing to grant access to those who are more closely related to the individual.
  • I realize I have a very distinct style as to how I source profiles. I further realize that it may not coincide with the style of others who may share an interest in the same profiles. In such cases I will nearly always be completely happy with any changes made by others (i.e. I am just thrilled to have others working on profiles I care about). Please don't feel a need to correspond with me if you are changing format of a profile I have been working on. Just go ahead and make it. If you are changing FACTS, then I would like to correspond with you. If you are interested in corresponding on a profile due to a shared interest I am ALWAYS willing to carry on such discussions.
  • I make a nearly neurotic number of inline citations in my development of profiles routinely using multiple sources to support each 'fact'. The following notes indicate some of my personal 'rules' as to how I use them.
  • When multiple sources support a given fact, they citations appear in chronological order. i.e. if both birth and death records support a date of birth, the birth citation appears first.
  • When multiple sources support the same singular fact, they appear in the order of the underlying size of the source jurisdiction (smaller, most local first). i.e. county death record, before state death record before country death record.
  • When multiple sources support the same fact but with different degrees of precision I use all sources. i.e. if one source shows the city, state and country while another shows only the state, I still use both sources. This isn't necessarily a good or bad idea but this is where I ended up with my thoughts. My thoughts on this subject have changed repeatedly so you are likely to encounter older profiles with a different strategy implemented.
  • When citing a source at FamilySearch.org, MyHeritage.com or other similar sites, I generally look at both the transcription of the source as well as the actual image to make sure that the transcription appears correct and to look for other useful information on the image. Although I may not have done so 100% of the times I make such an citation you can pretty much assume I have done so in most cases.

Hello Jeff,

During the winter, the Nordic Project performed check-ins, sent as a private message from your profile. You are one of those members who has not replied, and this is a last chance to get in touch and let me know if you like to continue as member in the Nordic Project.

Please answer this comment, and get in touch by sending me a private message. If we have not heard from you within a month you will be removed from the Nordic google group and your badge will be removed.

If you have not received any check-in emails, you might want to check that your email address for WikiTree is one you actually still use.

Thank you!

Hi 4th great-nephew of wife of 4th cousin 6x removed. Are you any relation to Anne Timmons, the comic book artist?

My great-grandmother was Lula Louise Brown. She is descended from John Abraham Browne (1585-1662). Do our lines converge there?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention those profiles need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

To use GRO, go to https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

Click 'birth' then enter surname and first name (you may need to search phonetically for some names. Smith might be registered under Smyth, etc.) Select the year (I usually search within 2 years of the given birth year, because if someone's birth year is 1852 on the census it might have actually been 1851 in reality). Type in the district if you know it. Then hit search. Anna Dade's birth registration looks like so:

DADE, ANNA MARIA BROOKS Order GRO Reference: 1852 D Quarter in YEOVIL Volume 05C Page 498 Order

BROOKS is the mother's maiden name.

Hi Jeff -- I am not related to Elizabeth Dade, but I have a mania about returning as many surnames to 'Unknown' women as possible. GRO is a very powerful tool. Although records were only kept from 1837, you can still finagle the mother's maiden name in many cases. Let's say an ancestor was born in 1835. No GRO record -- but on the 1841 census, this ancestor has a couple of younger siblings. You can check GRO for the sibling's births and find the mother's maiden name that way. Then check against FreeBMD to find a marriage for the parents.

Hi Jeff,

I'm the project coordinator for the Ontario Project. We've been categorizing early settlers, so you may see categories added to your Fry family. Always great seeing new settler profiles added, particularly from the Niagara region where many of my ancestors lived. Tried seeing if my Eliza Glass had any connections to yours, but no such luck.

Cheers, Laurie
