John was born in 1699. He was the son of John Thrall and Mindwell Moses.
John and Mary (Roberts) Thrall were married in Windsor, Connecticut on May 4, 1727. Mary Roberts came from Hartford, Connecticut. Both were buried in East Granby, Connecticut. Mary Roberts was the daughter of William and Dorothy (Forbes) Roberts. William Roberts of Hartford was the son of William Roberts who married Catherine Teete.
Two of John Thrall's sons died in infancy, but of the four sons who lived and had families of their own, all four took an active part in the revolutionary war. The farm was in the Turkey Hills section of Windsor, Conn, (Now East Granby). John Thrall's gravestone is still standing and in very good condition. It is a red stone, possibly sandstone, about four and a half feet high and about two and a half feet wide. It is one of the few gravestones in the East Granby cemetery bearing a seventeenth century date, as it shows his birth, as Oct. 13, 1699. He died at sixty-three years of age. His wife outlived him by seven years. She was seventy when she died.
