John was born on 20th May 1865 in Girvan, Ayrshire. His parents were Mary Thomson and John McGarva.[1] He was illeigitimate however, in a letter to the Kirk Session of Girvan Parish Church on 3rd April 1865, John McGarva acknowledged paternity. [2].
John had a short life and died "of inflammation of the small intestine" on 1st August 1865 in Girvan. [3]
John Thomson died young.
