Biography

Damase was born about 1856. He appears on the 1881 Census of Canada in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, age (25). With him are his wife Sophie (age given, 23), son Alfred, and ‘Modeste’, a 16 year old servant. Family sources believe that Damase (indexed under ‘Dénis’) was born in Maine, but the census shows that both Damase and (son) Alfred were born in New Brunswick, while Sophie and Modeste (“Modesse”) are American. ^[1]. According to findagrave, Damase passed away or was buried at Ste-Anne in 1883 (no tombstone picture). Proper sources for this profile are a little thin, (to say the least), but the information seems to match most family information (minus the argument about where Damase was born).
