Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1734. She passed away in 1785. [1]

Elizabeth Terrill was born in 1734 or 1735 in Buncombe County or Chowan County, North Carolina, to James Terrill and Margaret Watkins. (It is possible that the location discrepancy may be due to a border change, however, this does not explain the discrepancies between her birth and death dates.)

She married John Renta Baker on 5 Sep 1754 in Chowan County, North Carolina.

Their children are listed below.

Find-a-grave shows a birth of Jan. 28, 1734 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, and a death of 1785, Chowan County, North Carolina. Since there is no monument known on Find-a-grave, and no source has been listed there, these alternate dates may be incorrect.

This Elizabeth is not the child of James and Margaret Watkins. James' will of 1766 clearly states that his daughter is Elizabeth "Betty" Newton.

Hi, All. I want to ask about Elizabeth Terrill Baker's (Terrill-17) connection to James Terrill (Terrill-1018) and his wife Margaret. James' profile list a daughter named Elizabeth, but whose married name is Newton, not Baker. There are not two Elizabeths listed.

I'm hoping someone can tell me the source of the connection. Thanks.

Turrill-83 and Terrill-17 appear to represent the same person because: they share the exact same birthdate, the same spouse, John Renta Baker, and the same son, Boling/Bolin Baker.

Terrill-1078 and Terrill-17 appear to represent the same person because: they share a similar birth year and the same spouse, John Renta Baker. The difference in death years needs to be rectified.

I do not believe Wansley (born in Frederick Co, Maryland is the son of John Renta Baker (born NC) and Elizabeth Terrill. Wansley was drafted as a minor living in the county in which he was born (Frederick Co). No evidence John Renta Baker lived in Frederick Co, Maryland.
