When Ramon Wilfred Stratton was born on April 21, 1928, in Rainier, Oregon, his father, Reuben, was 44 and his mother, Flora, was 39. He married Ruby Nell Reynolds on November 29, 1947, in Chisolm, Alabama. They had three children during their marriage. He died on January 22, 1993, in Scappoose, Oregon, at the age of 64, and was buried in Portland, Oregon.
Ramon was a FBI Special Agent, and was credited with solving the 1974 $4.3 million Purolator Armored-car warehouse robbery, which at the time, was the largest cash robbery in the U.S. He was also credited for solving the Minnesota socialite Virginia Piper kidnapping, days before the statute of limitations was to expire.
