Biography

Kristen Stiefel is a Connecticuter.

I was born and raised in Connecticut, United States, and have lived there most of my life. I have also lived in New York, Massachusetts, and Ohio.

My interest in genealogy stems from my fascination with history, especially social history, women's history, and Black history. For many years, I was a history teacher in schools and at a museum. I now work in the history field as an education consultant and editor.

As Pearl Buck is credited with saying: "If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday.”[1]

Hi May,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
