Biography

Sarah Louise Springer was a daughter of Nathaniel and Mary (Clarke) Springer.[1] She was born about 1808 at Norwich, Connecticut.

She married on May 24, 1829, Charles Moore Backus (8 Dec 1809 - Jun 1832, son of Nancy (Moore) & Ezra Backus), with whom she had one child:

  • Nancy Elizabeth Backus, born April 28, 1831

After her first husband, Charles M. Backus died in June 1832, Mrs. Sarah Louise (Springer) Backus married on July 5, 1838, in Norwich, James Breed. They had 6 children [2]:

  1. Charles Allen Breed (1839-1862)
  2. Lydia Perkins (Breed) Myers (1841-1907); married William J. Myers
  3. John Breed (1843-1894); married Susan A. Chessman
  4. Joseph Breed (1843-1888); married Eleanor W. Brayton
  5. George Breed (1846-1910); married Julia Emma Hall
  6. James Otis Breed (1847-1882)

Sarah Louise (Springer) (Backus) Breed died 15 Feb 1870 at Norwich. Her grave is in Yantic Cemetery, Norwich[3]. No grave marker is depicted.
