Thomas remarried to Alice Appleton, widow of Robert Maye and daughter of Thomas Appleton and Margary Crane, sometime after 1512.[2] Alice was Thomas' first cousin.[6] Their daughter was:[2]
In his will, dated 13 June 1523, Thomas made known his wish to be buried in the Church of Lavenham before the altar of Saint Katherine.[2] Thomas's estate was probated on 3 July 1523.[2] Thomas's widow Alice was said to be the second wealthiest person in Suffolk in 1524, after the Duke of Suffolk.[2]
Death
Thomas died on 15 June 1523.
Research notes
Green (n.d.), refers to him as "Thomas Spring III" .[2]
Some items to consider/research further:
Birth year: Green's (n.d.), guestimate for DOB is c. 1457.[2] At 10 July 2018, Wikipedia recorded a birth year circa 1474.[7] Thomas was the eldest of three sons mentioned in his father's will dated 29 March 1487.[2]
Year of second marriage It is supposed that Thomas's second wife Alice's first husband Robert Maye did not die until after 12 April 1512, as, according to Probate Information collated by Nina Green, Robert's will is dated 12 April 1512.[2] This appears inconsistent with the year of birth Nina Green provides for Thomas and Alice's daughter Bridget Spring (1498).[2]
1498: the supposed birth year of Thomas's daughter Bridget Along with the will of her mother's first husband being dated 1512 (see year of second marriage), and Bridget being the daughter of Alice's second husband Thomas, Bridget's birth date also deserves questioning because it is after her half-brother Robert Spring was said to have been born to Thomas's first wife Anna (1502).[2]
