Sorry, but new at this. Hi Bev, thanks for the interesting add ons about the Krause family. I'm trying to find some roots about my Omi's relations who were around in Göttingen Lower Saxony area. I don't know as yet if our Krause families were related. I don't quite understand this DNA thing but I'm hoping that my brother who also did Ancestry DNA can find out if there's some kind of DNA segment between our branch of family and yours.

His name is Peter Lax, so if he knows how to do this and there's a connection it's possible you'll get some kind of message from ancestry. Hope that's OK with you. If there is some kind of connection you should find more about the German side from his tree. It would be interesting because so far it seems my father's ancesters are the ones who are scattered world wide.

Hi Christine, my family has been searching for Johann Braun and Dorothy Krause for many years. We knew only Dorothy's first name, but my daughter, Heidi, recently found the sources I entered on Wiki for Dorothy Krause and the names and dates match the little we knew. I'm happy to communicate with anyone about my family tree or genealogy.

This has become an avocation. On sunny days, I travel to cemeteries within 100 miles and take a few pictures and request a cemetery category on Wiki.

I'm very happy you reached out. Thank you, Bev

Hi Bev,

I saw your comment on the One Place Studies page, and just wanted to check in with you. I'm working on a One Place Study for St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Lutheran Church in Black Creek, Outagamie County, Wisconsin, and figure we're likely to have a little overlap, or at least are neighbors (study-wise).

I'm pretty green at doing One Place Studies, just learning as I go, but if there's anything you think I could help you with, I am more than happy to help.

Good luck with your study! Darlene

Thank you so much for your email. I live in New London and go to church at Immanuel in Greenville. My Great-Great Granparents are buried there and I was lucky enough to get a copy of ALL the people buried in the Cemetery, many of whom were the original immigrants.

Yes, I am having a problem with getting the profiles entered into the Cemetery, so would appreciate your help learning the correct way to do this among other things! In return, maybe I can assist you in some way.

I don't currently do much with the Bio's and don't always put in every source as I want something there for new and aspiring genealogists related to these "unearthed" profiles to cut their teeth on. Part of the joy of genealogy is the joy of discovery and when someone is learning, they need to find easy pearls.

Sorry to go on...I'm 69 and would love to get to know you and to work together.

Bev

Hi, Bev!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand Pre-1700 Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines on that page.

Hi,

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their follwed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any disucssions in G2G.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you konw that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!

I look forward to hearing form you soon!

Dear Steve,

Thank you for your comment. I am not currently signed up for a team. I am interested in working with a team if you have one for central Wisconsin, USA. At 67, I can do some things on a computer or cell phone, but have not figured out how to use any chat format.

I have the complete list of souls and dates for the Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Greenville Township, Outagamie County, Wisconsin (W7265 School Road, Greenville, WI 54942) and am willing to add sourced profiles for all of them. The cemetery dates back to 1850. I can add the grave site photo when I take the images this summer.

Please help me get started. If this involves using a Google group, please CC my daughter, Heidi Riggs-Kloehn at [email address removed] as she is my IT person.

Thank you, Bev Spreeman

Looks like WikeTree doesn't have burial data in their database.

Hi Bev, on the errors discussion you mentioned you get your census data from Ancestry.com. Why not use Rootsearch to get it from Familysearch.org instead? It's a lot easier, and they give you a link to the census image that isn't behind a pay wall.

For instance, for Minnie Brown, search down on the right of her profile for the link: "Research RootsSearch for Minnie (Bartholomew) Brown:"

Click the link; maybe log back in; Minnie's data is filled in automatically.

Under Search, choose Familysearch. There's a grid with search results for Minnie Brown. Click a "record" icon to open one. Click "Copy" and the citation and information and a back-link will be on your clipboard. Records with a camera icons have an image.

Switch back to Minnie Brown's wikitree profile, and have fun.

Enjoy!

Hello,

Welcome to the Wikitree family. Your "DNA Tested" badge indicates that you have taken a DNA test and that you probably have an interest in using your DNA results to uncover more about your family connections. We want to help you do that and have developed a few simple beginning steps for getting the most from your DNA test results.

1.) On your Wikitree profile enter your DNA test kit information if you have not already done so. To do this. click on the ."Add" tab select "DNA Test Information" and follow the instructions for entering your test(s).

2.) With autosomal tests also enter your optional Gedmatch ID if you have one. In the case of YDNA enter your optional YSearch ID or with mtDNA, your mitosearch ID if you have them. You can also enter Haplogroup information.

3.) Be certain the privacy settings on your Wikitree profile permit the sharing of your DNA and family tree with other potential genetic matches. Click the "Privacy" tab and set your level to " Private. with public tree" or "Private, with public tree and bio". Fot more information on privacy settings see, Wikitree privacy controls

4.) Build and expand your family tree.

There is a help section in Wikitree that will answer most questions you may have regarding DNA and its use on Wikitree. You can also ask specific questions in the G2G forum's. Good luck and happy searching

Hi Beverly!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering to add your precious family history.

Wow!!! You're the '5th Spreeman profile on Wikitree! I'm sure your 'cousins' already here will benefit from your insightful collaboration, sourced research and first-hand knowledge.

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches --

Deborah Volunteer Greeter

Thanks so much for your wonderful email and your eagerness to volunteer on Wikitree. I'm happy to confirm you as a full member of Wikitree.

A word of caution with your phone, sometimes the links don't open properly from a mobile phone, don't be discouraged if you see 404 Error - try opening the link from your profile page once you've logged into Wikitree!

Welcome to Wikitree Beverly!

The initial email from us has helpful links that get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to Volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

  • Once you choose to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the Family, we’re really glad you’re here.

Deborah, Greeter (from USA)
