"I am of the realization that my own organic family believes that because my mother was white and I have recently confirmed with DNA that my father was black; I'm somehow not really black. Sadly, most people in the country think that's how it works. It's complicated and it dates back to a time when slave-owners like Thomas Jefferson invited/ordered their slaves like Sally Hemings up to their chambers, which of course resulted in a bunch of folks like me. We are called mulattos. Crazy offensive name, right? Well, crazier offensive origin, because the word "mulatto" derived from the Spanish (not Portuguese) word for mule.
But being mulatto had another side to it. If you had a white slave-owner daddy, you may have been one of the few slaves who learned to read, write, or even got your freedom.
This preferential treatment created major friction between black people and mulattos, a complicated relationship which went on for generations.
The Civil Rights Movement in the USA encouraged biracial people to embrace their heritage and to be proud of being any kind of black.
Interracial marriage was legalized in the late 60’s and by the early '90s, biracial births sky-rocketed by over 500%.
That's 500% more people like me who have had an identity crisis and who don't know what to call themselves."
This was also the opinion of Spencer-24565 but quoted and adapted from the transcript fromBlack-ish S3 Ep8 56 directed by Kevin Bray, written by Jenifer Rice-Genzuk,Henry,aired on November 30 2016, 309, 537.[19]
In the knowledge that we are all mortal, I hereby request that upon my death, all of my managed profiles of deceased persons including my own profile should be set to full open status. We are happy you came back to the Northwest Terriers for April's Connect-a-thon. As of this writing, you have contributed 115 profiles. Join us on the Discord channel or the G2G Team Chat page for any questions, comments, or just for fun chatting.
Remember, you must have at least one valid source for each profile you create. The source is the identification of where you obtained information. A family tree is not a source.
See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources for the methods used for sourcing if needed.
Scoring results can be found here.
Thanks for your help!!

My name is John Kingman. I am a Coordinator with the WikiTree DNA Project.
Since you have started following a DNA tag, you may be interested in how you can use DNA test matches with your relatives to strengthen your genealogy on WikiTree. You will find the answers in the Help pages, of which the DNA Help category page shows all the DNA help that is available, and the How to Get Started with DNA page is highlighted. Also the DNA Features page can show you various ways that DNA tests can work with your genealogy.
You may see some relatives show up in your list of "DNA Connections" on your profile if they have added a DNA test to their profile. These DNA Connections are possible DNA test matches, they are not sufficient for marking parental relationships as "confirmed with DNA" without providing a DNA Confirmation source citation providing details of an acceptable DNA match. You may find that you have acceptable matches with some of them. There is more information about DNA Connections on the DNA Test Connections page.
When you are ready to start documenting that your genealogy sources are confirmed by DNA test matches, be sure to follow the guidance at the Confirmed with DNA help page. Also, I strongly recommend using the DNA Confirmation Citation Maker, for creating and/or validating your DNA confirmation source citations. Note that a profile should not be marked "confirmed with DNA" without source citations for both genealogy and relevant DNA test matches.
If you have questions or need assistance, feel free to ask on the G2G Forum using the Tag "DNA" and/or "DNA_Confirmation".
Happy WikiTree-ing!
John Kingman
Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

We are so pleased you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
