Biography

Birth

Giuseppe Spadafora (or Spatafora) is born about 1813 in Corleone to Vincenzo Spadafora and Antonina La Rosa.

Marriage and Children

Giuseppe marries Leoluchina Traina, daughter of the late Domenico Traina and the living Francesca Pennino, on 25 February 1838. His parents have died by this time.[1]

Giuseppe and Leoluchina have at least six children: Vincenzo (1839) Maria Antonia (c. 1840), Domenico (1842), Francesca (c. 1848), Gioachino (1855), and Maria Concetta (c. 1859).

Vincenzo is born on 7 February 1839 in his parents' home in via S. Elena, Corleone. His birth is reported by his father, Giuseppe, age 22 (b. 1817), villico (farmer). His mother is Leoluchina Troina, age 20 (b. 1819).[2]

I estimate Maria Antonia is born within a couple years of her parents' marriage. She is named after her paternal grandmother.

Domenico, named after his maternal grandfather, is born in 1842.[3]

I estimate Francesca is born around 1848. She is named after her maternal grandmother.

Giuseppe, age 40 (b. 1815), agricola (farmer), living in via S. Giovan Battista, Corleone, reports Gioachino's birth to his wife Leoluchina Traina, age 36 (b. 1819). He is born 26 January 1855.[4]

I estimate that Maria Concetta is born around 1859, twenty years before she marries.

Children's Marriages

Vincenzo, a borgese in adulthood (signifying that he has purchased land) marries Biagia Cascio on 17 November 1867. When they marry, both of his parents are still living, and her mother is also, but her father has died. [5][6]

Maria Antonia marries Giovanni Nicolosi on 24 February 1868.[7]

Francesca marries Francesco Vutera on 9 February 1873.[8]

Maria Concetta marries Salvatore Colletti on 7 September 1879.[9]

Gioachino marries twice, first to Maria Rosa Ligotino, on 26 September 1881.[10]

Gioachino remarries to Biagia Cutrone on 1 November 1883.[11][12][13]

Death of Giuseppe

Giuseppe, borgese, dies at the age of 79 in Corleone at his house on via Lisotta, 29, on 20 November 1892. He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Leoluchina Traina.[14]
