Currently working to build out more of my Polish family lines. This is a brick wall for me so far. I've been talking to my grandmother, Mary, ever since I really started to focus on working on the family tree and history. She says her parents didn't really talk much about their families (i.e. parents, siblings, etc). But, every time I find something out in my research, I try to discuss with her, and sometimes that triggers a memory.

My great-great-grandparents, Kasper and Maria arrived in the United States roughly around 1903. I originally thought they came to the States together, already married... but some half-cousins claim that they met and married in the States. I have not been able to find any marriage records to confirm either way.

Kasper and Maria had a son, my great-grandfather, Kasper, in 1904. They are noted on the 1905 NJ State Census. The family is also found in the 1910 US Federal census.

Shortly after 1910, I presume that Kasper died, and Maria returned to Jasliska, Poland. I have not been able to find any death records to confirm my suspicion. After Maria returned to Poland, she seemed to have almost immediately remarried and had a child, Ludwig/Ludwik; which was Kasper's son. Then, went on to have three more children with her second husband, Antoni.

I have not been able to figure out any siblings, parents, cousins, etc for Kasper and Maria. I'm also trying to research any of the other surnames connected to the line. Lorenc, Krakowiecki, and Krezel are the main ones. However, all of these folks appear to have come from a small town, Jasliska, in Poland (or Galicia), depending on when we are talking). So, these families seem to be very interconnected via marriages.

I have built out many temporary trees on Ancestry's website, in hopes to find clues and connections that might lead back to my tree.

I suspect that a Paul and his wife Mary, might be connected, but have not been able to find documentation to support that yet. Paul and Mary arrived in the states a few years ahead of Kasper. In the 1905 NJ State Census, they are living next to each other. My grandmother says that her father considered the children of Paul and Mary, his first cousins.

Some name variations I've seen in different United States Federal and State Census records for Kurdyla families: Kurdyla, Kurdilla, Kordyla, Kurdila, Kordylo, Kurdela.

I am also trying to learn more about my great-grandmother, Karolina, and her family. A ship manifest has her father's name spelled KRENZEL, but my grandmother (her daughter), says it's KREZEL. I haven't changed the LNAB on the profile yet, because I want to find sources to back that up before making the edit. I have not been able to find anything more on my great-grandmother's family.

I have spoken with some half-cousins, descendants of Maria, who have been trying to help me learn more about our Polish families. When discussing my grandfather, Franciszek 'Frank', they said that when his first wife died, they believe that my great-grandmother, Karolina, was the sister of his first wife. I have not been able to find any documentation to confirm that. They also mentioned that they thought Karolina has roughly 12 siblings. My grandmother remembers her having 1 sister, Helen, who came to the states and stayed with them at some point but returned to Poland later.

A lot of my information is currently built out on my Ancestry.com tree (Vernon-Verworn Family Tree). Feel free to message me with any questions.
