I'm interested in communicating with cousins, but also, with those with the same ancestors, and with similar genealogical interests. I'm also really interested in building out my DNA family tree. So, please help me in that endeavor, by sharing our segment match data with me.

I have some of my tree built out here on Wikitree (so far), but also have a lot more built out on the Ancestry website.

Extra Extra, Read More About Me!

Introduction

I recently started working on my family tree (March 2019). I knew one branch had been worked on some, and speaking with a family member at my grandfather's 90th birthday party, inspired me to take that further. When starting out, I had the ambitious goal of creating "ONE TREE" for anyone who was connected to my family. When I stumbled across WikiTree in the process, I felt excited that others were working to that same goal too.

I look forward to collaborating with anyone and everyone, to build an awesome family tree (both here and my personal version).

Hi Skye! I'm not sure what is a good fit for myself team wise, but maybe I'll try the researching team for now. I'm not super proficient in Polish research, but could help with Polish folk who came to USA maybe? I certainly want to continue being part of the Poland Project. Thanks!
I think that would be a great fit for you! It covers a broad range of things you can do, and you may be doing these things already and not know it (like building, sourcing and connecting profiles outside of your own family.) Is there a particular voivodeship where you research? Thanks Caroline!
posted by Skye Sonczalla
i'm honestly not well versed in Polish research (yet). I haven't poked around enough to really know what I'm doing just yet, and the few times I have, not much comes up for my family line. So, at some point, i need to find time to really do digging and learning etc. My grandmother's parents are from Jasliska, a small village in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship.
You are just fine! :) When you get the chance, check out: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Poland/Resource_Library. We've updated it with plenty of links. Poke around and see what is there. I always begin with Geneteka and then to the main Polish Archives website to see what record sets are available. If your village did not have a church, there is information on where to look for nearby churches (because when you run searches, you will want to run them for the village that had the church.)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for reaching out! Yes, I'm enjoying the England project. Currently (slugishly) going through the OT2 process. I think i'm on a county team and the Bio Builders Team. I'm actually thinking, that for now, I'll just be on the bio builders team. I've been super busy with real life things so I'm scaling back on some wikitree things in order to "unstretch" myself. LOL. :) Thanks, Caroline

Thanks Caroline! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the England Project. We have you listed in the Bio Builders Team, Cheshire Team and Staffordshire Team ... so I will arrange for that to be updated so you are only in Bio Builders Team.

Thanks again for being part of the England Project!

Hi Caroline -thank you for being a member of the Jewish Roots Project! I wanted to let you know about some new things we have going on.

- You can see new tabs at the top of our home page, where you can select topics to view or work on. You can also use our new maintenance categories - feel free to add them to your own family, or any other Jewish Roots profile, or work on the maintenance yourself, such as adding new records to profiles with only a couple sources.

-I'm sending an invitation to join GoogleGroups, which we are re-starting this week. We'll probably do most group chat there, but the most important things will be posted on G2G, which you will be notified about if you follow the jewish_roots tag.

-You can also join Wikitree's discord server, where we have a Jewish Roots chat channel.

-If you have ideas or suggestions for the project, feel free to reply here or send me a message.

Thank you! -Elaine, co-leader for Jewish Roots Project

Hi Elaine - thank you for reaching out. I think I'm actually going to step back from project membership. I'm spread pretty thin these days. I initially joined because I discovered I carry ~12% jewish DNA. That's still a mystery I want to unpack, but haven't had the time to focus on that yet. I also discovered my granuncle was killed at Ravensbrück Concentration Camp. Family story understanding is he was turned in for helping Jewish families. Anyway, hopefully down the road, I'll return and be able to learn more about these interesting pieces of my "story." Thanks! ~Caroline
Dear Germany Project member,

If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Hi Flo,

Thank you so much for reaching out. I think I'm going to take a step back for the time being. I've managed to stretch myself thin with regular life things AND wikitree projects. I certainly have German related lines to work on, but I've been focused on other things at this time. When things are lighter, I'll hopefully be able to circle back and rejoin the project.  :)

Thanks for your feedback. We will be happy to welcome you again, later. Best wishes for regular life as well!

Hi Traci,

Yes, I'm still interested in the project. I've been focused elsewhere lately, but German Roots is a big part of my background and my husbands actually. My paternal sides has German roots, and my husbands paternal side are "Germans from Russia."

)
Hi Traci,

By the way, I had a quick question. I've seen that there is a sticker for "Volga Germans" for those Germans from Russia that were from the Volga area, but I haven't seen a sticker for the "Black Sea Germans." I was wondering if there was a sticker for them that I'm not finding? I'd like to add this sticker to my husband's ancestor profiles. If there isn't a sticker, is there a category I could add them into?

Thanks for the help! Caroline

Hi Caroline. We don't have a Black Sea Germans sticker yet, but I will request one. Also, the closest thing we have to a category is: Category:German_Immigrants_to_Russia.

I will add Black Sea Germans to our list of categories that need addition/attention. Thanks for asking!

Hi C,

Thanks for taking responsibility for the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up GEDCOM biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS If you have any GEDCOM cleanup to do, there is a tool that can help with the formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Ciao! This is just a general check-in for members of the Italy project. I am checking to see who is still interested in being a member of the project as we go through some much needed restructuring. I was also wondering what teams you would like to be on. We’ve created teams for each part of Italy. North, South, Islands etc. They will be explained further in an upcoming g2g post. Stay tuned. For now, please let me know if you are still interested in the project and if you’d like to be a member of a team.

Yes, still interested in Italy. My family comes from Pascelupo (in Umbria). Not sure which part that would technically fall in. Would depend on where 'North' and 'South' are delineated.
Umbria is in the center of the boot. So, you'd be in the Umbria team. I think north and south are delineated around the rome area. Probably in Umbria, to be honest.

Thanks for the reply!

Hi, C,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Based on your tags the Italy Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals and tasks of the projects and join those which are a good fit.
