Robert was recorded as the fourth son of John Smyth of Corsham, Wiltshire, in the will of the latter made in 1538.[1][2] His mother is presumed to have been Joan Brounker.
His year of birth is unknown and is estimated as c 1526 [his brother Thomas Smythe who was the second son of John was born c 1522].
Robert was named as an Overseer of the will of his brother John Smith, the will made in 1563 and proved in 1570.[3]
In the will of his sister in law Alice (Judde) Smythe, the will made on 10 Jul 1592[4], she made a small bequest to her 'brother' Robert Smyth.
His year of death is unknown.
