Eliza Smith is a part of US Black heritage.
Eliza was born about 1814 and was enslaved by Mary (Webb) Smith in Granville County, North Carolina, at the Abram's Plains plantation.
When Mary's will was probated in February 1828, Eliza was given to her granddaughter Sally Pomfret Smith. In the estate inventory, Eliza was listed with the "supposed age" of 14 years old.
