Mary Webb was born on 18 October 1740 in South Farnham Parish, Essex Co., Virginia, daughter of James William Webb (1705–1771) and Mary Edmondson (1713–1794).

Mary (20) married Samuel Granville Smith (31) (born on 3 December 1729 in Essex, Virginia; son of Samuel Smith Sr. and Anne (Amis) Smith) in May 1761 in Essex, Virginia. Their children were:

  2. Mary Webb Smith (18 September 1763 – 21 March 1814)
