Ek is jammer Ronel, maar ek sal ongelukkig nie kan deelneem nie. Ons is in die middel van 'n 3-maande lange reis en ek sal eers einde Oktober se kant weer aktief kan raak op WikiTree. Jammer!

Kom veilig tuis

Hi Riël, thanks for adding the sources (death) to this profile. I did though reconstruct the bio from the start because you accidentally removed the first creator of Foezze-1 all together.

Eish, sorry about that. Will have to be more careful in future.

A Warm Welcome to the South African project Riël

Looking forward to see your and your fathers work here on WikiTree. Thank you for working on and improving the history for you family member.

Hi Riël, I see that you've been a WikiTree member for around seven years now. I also see that you have created some duplicates. A lot has changed over the years, a few projects have emerged. This is the shortened version of the standard greeting to new South African contribuants: Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources.

A few handy links to get you started:

  1. Getting Started
  2. Adding to WikiTree.
  3. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?
  4. G2G Help - for any questions you may have ....

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides links to sources, there are help pages that might also be useful.

I see that you are GEDCOM equipped. Please also be aware that there are project protocols to adhere to. For example there are no middle names in European and South-African profiles. Also South Africa and the Provinces did not exist until the 20th century. For adding the place names in WikiTree the automatic place name suggestor should be de-activated. Also - please edit after your adding to WikiTree South African profiles: a) get rid of your [own] GEDCOM debris b) use the references and named references to edit the data that you provide to validate profiles more c) Respect the information and input of other contribuants to the same profile (do not edit their information) d) Sign your additions with your own WikiTree signature (the quickest way is to use 4 tildes one after another [~]. The key is collation, not narration. Use the links provided below (South African Roots Project and help pages) as instruction and see older profiles as Zeeman-25 for an example. I would also advise to start building from your own family, creating profiles manually after searching for duplicates with the function to the top of the page (not via GEDCOM-comparing).

Oh well. :)

Hi Riël,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

David ~ Pre-1700 Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Welcome Riel,

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so don’t forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Our help pages, also top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute by adding information, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know.

Happy Hunting,

Jess

My dad (now deceased) enjoyed genealogical research and put together large parts of our family tree. I inherited this work of his and don't want to let it go to waste, so I'd like to contribute his work to WikiTree.
