Note

Note: Further verification is needed to prove Chieltje Cornelissen is the child of Cornelius Barentsen Slecht. Many documents prepared over the years have indicated she is his daughter however recent research in Holland may indicate she was either his sister or not related at all. It is to be noted that Chieltje's parents have not been verified 100%. It's possible that Cornelis Slecht was a brother instead of . However many historical documents lay the claim that Cornelis was her father[8]

You might want to add the following source to be used with reservation: Newkirk, Adamson Bentley. 1934. Some Descendants of Garret Cornelisse and Mattheus Cornelisse Van Nieuwkirk. Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. http://persi.heritagequestonline.com. How could they have been married in New York in 1655 when they did not come to America until 1659 with an infant? Also, her name does not seem to appear along with her husbands in any primary source but only in secondary sources that provide no proof. Perhaps someone can come up with a source.

Slecht-80 and Slecht-1 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge into the NNS PPP. No tree conflicts. Thanks!

Hi,

Found this Thread about Chieltje and if she was a daughter of Cornelis Barentsz Slecht and Tryntje Tysse Matthijsdr Bosch or not . Chieltje is she a Slecht or not ? also from this and mentioned in this thread: Newkirk Family notes in a scrapebook @ Newkirk Homestead in Hurley NY. These notes mentioned a close relationship between Chieltje & her sister in-law Jacomyntje Slecht (daughter of Cornelis Slecht & Tryntie Bosch). And in the testament of the parents Chieltje wan't mentioned (all other still living children were)

Gerrits-54 and Slecht-1 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. These matches have been reviewed by the New Netherland Settlers Merge Approval System, and the "Green" destination NNS profile is protected as PPP, and the "Merge Pending" profile is now ready and able to be merged into it. I saved the data to the bios. See Comments and bio about LNAB and other issues that were resolved. Thanks!

Slecht-10 had as place of birth Woerdenscheverlatt, Zuid-Holland, Nederland (GEDCOM-import 2010) which is very strange because it is a combination of a Dutch and a Bavarian / Swiss word and certainly as place has never existed in the Netherlands. Woerden is quite near to Utrecht, which was in the 17th century part of the province of North-Holland, though Woerden itself even despite it's proximity to Utrecht might have been part of South-Holland (but that must be verified).

Jacomyntje Cornelise Sleght-31, as Daughter of Cornelis Sleght and this Chieltie Gerrits-54 is attahced to the wrong mother. Her father seems okay.

As the older generations get merged down, I think this will become more clear.

Jacomyntje is in reality Chieltie's sister, not her daughter.

Chelitie is the correct wife of Gerret Cornelissen van Nieuwkirk-6, as attached here. But she is not the wife of her own father, Cornelis Sleght-32, as attached here.

I am going to go ahead and make these changes so that the tree matches will make sense.
