Biography

Johan Heinrich Schmidt has German Roots.

From the Wingen Lutheran Parish Registry: Transcription of text in document: 1715. On the 27th of August Johann Heinrich, son of Georg Schmidt, married Maria Magdalena, daughter of Conradt Frey, here in Wingen. God be with them.

18th Century Emigrants from Northern Alsace to America by Annette Kunselman Burgert: Johan Heinrich Schmidt came to America in 24 September 1737, Ship-St. Andrew Galley, with his family. He settled first at Muddy Creek in Lancaster county. In 1748 he moved, with his family, to Heidelberg Twsp., Berks County. He was married twice, surviving both wives. Henrich died 26 February 1765 at 77 years of age.

Immigration: Ship-St. Andrew Galley, John Stedman, Master, from Rotterdam. Qualified, Sept. 24, 1737

Andreas SCHMID, Frederich SCHMID, Henrich SCHMID, Philip SCHMID

Second: Married Anna Maria Stocker/Roth, 7 July 1733 in Lembach, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, Europe

Lancaster County: In the year 1745, the German pastor of the Lutheran church (built in 1734) united a portion of his congregation with the Moravians. A great ferment was excited among the Lutherans. The Lutherans alleged that they were compelled to hear a doctrine which they did not approve, or else to resign their church. Both Heinrich and Anna Maria were received into Moravian membership in 1745. In 1748, he moved with his family to Heidelberg, Berks County, Pennsylvania. He was married twice, surviving both wives.

SCHMIDT, Henrich, Heidelberg. February 23 1765 - March 5, 1765 To eldest son Balthaser and second son Henrich shall have 25 pounds each and two youngest children Jacob and Dorothea, in which have attended and taken care of me in my age and sickness shall have all the remainder of my estate.

Schmidt-6748 and Schmidt-4252 appear to represent the same person because: potential duplicate

Thanks for the merge. Will one of you be able to integrate the biographies and sources so there is just one, unified biography and source section?

Schmidt-5231 and Schmidt-4252 appear to represent the same person because: same name and dates. Spouses are different but he could have married twice.
