Biography

Susan Rocilli Weatherford Saunders was born in 1849 in Hope Town, Abaco to Albert Augustus Saunders Jr. and Isabella Weatherford.

She married John Alexander Hewlett, son of Townsend Edmund Hewlett and Sarah Ann Key Hewlett, about 1865, in Abaco, Bahamas. Susan and John had children Charles Elbert, Susan Agnes, Emma, Joseph, Townsend, Minnie, and Dolly Mae Hewlett.

In 1870, John and Susan Hewlett moved with their small children to Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. John's father, Townsend, had an inheritance from his aunt; and Townsend's children were left bequests from his brothers, Divine and Charles, and sister, Martha Jane Hewlett. He was a farmer.

Susan Rocilli Weatherford Saunders Hewlett died in 1907 in East Marion, Suffolk County, New York and was buried at Bethpage Cemetery in Farmingdale, Nassau County, New York. She was 58 years of age.
