Hallo Jos,

Als ik wat tijd had en de profielen op m'n eigen lijst geen speciale aandacht vroegen, heb wat tijd besteed met het toevoegen van bronnen aan Gelderse profielen van de algemene "maintenance" lijst. Omdat blijkbaar de formatter https://www.genealogietools.nl/formatter/ blijkbaar voor enige tijd de geest gegeven heeft, en op het ogenblijk niet beschikbaar is, ben ik begonnen met maken van ontbrekende plaats categorien in Gelderland en het toevoegen van categorien aan bestaande profielen. Ik heb persoonlijk geen speciale belangstelling in de meeste toegevoegde categorien. Jan

Hi Jan,

thanks for setting up migration categories like County of East-Frisia, Emigrants category. Since the Germany Project strongly discourages historical location categories (not migration categories!), I will send location categories like County of East-Frisia category to deletion. Please replace the location with a blank in the future (like seen here), in order to not require a historical location category for it. Thanks again for creating migration categories!

Hi Jan, you sent the category https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Heelsum to be renamed, however you haven't set up the new category (see the link is red not green on the category page), so Editbot won't be able to complete the re-naming, until that is set up.

Thanks Margaret! I was aware of the red colour of the text, but did not know how to solve the problem. This was the first time I tried to rename a category name. I hope it will work now and the bot will be able to finish the process....

Thanks Jan, that's great, when you see that red link you can just click on it, it will open up the category edit box, add the content, category info box, then save and it's done! Editbot will then move the profiles to the new category, on it's next run.

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for the reminder. I went through the quiz you referred to. Since it was 5-6 year ago I did this for the first time, it was a good refreshment, but I did not get a second “Pre-1700 Certified Badge” for it.... It is right that I have quite some Pre-1700 profiles in my watchlist (today ±750 from a total of ±2200), mainly from European areas, which are now The Netherlands (±70%), Germany (±20%) and Poland (±10%). I think all the events mentioned in the profile's biography, Pre- AND Post-1700, are documented by sources (or document images) accepted by The Dutch Roots Project or conform general Wikitree rules. I still also work on them to fill up some holes, to get better biographies and to correct orthographies. If, despite my efforts, you have concrete examples (profile ID's), where profiles do not match Wikitree rules or definitions, please bring them to my attention, so that I can correct these and avoid similar mistakes in future. Thanks in advance!

Hoi Jan,

We zijn heel blij om te zien dat je nog steeds actief bent op WikiTree en dat je ook bezig bent met Nederlandse Profielen. We zouden graag met elkaar een nieuwe impuls willen geven aan het Dutch Roots Project om Nederlanders binnen WikiTree beter op de kaart te zetten. Het Dutch Roots Project heeft al meer dan 50.000 profielen onder beheer en in totaal zijn er al meer dan 500.000 Nederlandse profielen op WikiTree Binnen dit project houden we ons bezig met het bewaken van de kwaliteit van deze Nederlandse profielen en anderen te helpen daarmee. We zouden naast deze taken ook andere zaken willen oppakken, maar hiervoor hebben we meer vrijwilligers nodig. Daarom deze vragen aan jou:

1) Heb je interesse om mee te helpen als vrijwilliger bij het Dutch Roots Project? 2) Zo ja, gaat je voorkeur uit naar een specifieke taak binnen het Dutch Roots Project? (denk bijvoorbeeld aan vertalen, sourcen etc of iets anders dat je zou willen aanpakken.)

Wij hopen dat je ons een reactie wilt sturen en voel het niet als een verplichting om iets te gaan doen. Wij willen alleen een inventarisatie maken van wie we kunnen vragen om ons te helpen met bepaalde activiteiten.

Hi Traci,

When I started working with Wikitree some years ago, I thought it could be helpful for me and others to subscribe for the Germany Project. Finally the 15-20% of the 1800 ancestor profiles on my watch list have their roots in what is now Germany. Until now this membership did not help me very much setting up the profiles conform the Wikitree goals, neither have I been able to give some input into the Germany team. I do not think this situation will change a lot in near future and if you think it is better to unsubscribe, please let me know!

Hi Jan,

Je hebt op g2g een vraag gesteld over missende categorieën m.b.t Nederland. Het gebrek aan antwoorden geeft, denk ik, al aan hoe weinig interesse voor gedetailleerde historische categorieën er is vanuit de Nederlandse WikiTree populatie. Ik reageer hier, omdat mijn persoonlijke scepsis aangaande nut en noodzaak van categorieën op g2g daar al eerder tot vervelende ontwikkelingen geleid heeft.

voor je commentaar en informatie! Toen ik een paar jaar geleden begon profielen naan te voegen aan de Wikitree gebruikte ik de categorieën nauwelijks of verkeerd. Nu, bij het corrigeren van de profielen in m'n eigen lijst, heb ik begonnen het interessant te vinden m.b.v. o.a. die categorieën een wat historisch achtergrond aan die profielen te kunnen geven. En, als ik goed begrepen heb, was dat ook één van de doelstellingen van Wikitree..... Ook als er weinige anderen zijn die zich daarvoor interesseren, neem ik echter aan dat die zich er echter niet aan zullen storen, als ik zelf die categorieën toevoeg, die ik in mijn structuur kan gebruiken. (?)Ik heb nl. weinig zin daarover met anderen te moeten ruzieën.......

Natuurlijk ben je volkomen vrij om categorieën te gebruiken naar eigen invulling, en daar zul je ook geen ruzie over krijgen. Maar omdat ik ze zelf, afgezien van bestaande maintenance categorieën als Unsourced, Needs xxx, etc. niet gebruik kan ik geen advies geven of hulp bieden bij de creatie van nieuwe. Ik denk dat je een expliciet verzoek moet indienen bij het categorization project: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Categorization#Adding_New_Categories
