Biography

Audrey Lucille Rodgers was born in 1927,^[1] the eldest of two daughters born to Elva Rodgers & Muril Williams of Kearney, Nebraska. After spending the majority of her formative years in Nebraska^[2] and Wyoming^[3], Audrey and her family moved to Eugene, Oregon, about 1942. She graduated from Eugene High School in 1945, at which point she went to work as a checker at a local department store.

Audrey married (1) Fletcher Groover in 1947^[4] and (2) Vernon McClary in 1951.

During her nearly 30 year marriage to Vern, Audrey gave birth to 3 daughters:

1. DeLynn Gay McClary (b. 1952)

2. Eryn Beth McClary (b. 1957, d. 1995)

3. Pamela Rae McClary (b. 1959)

She was also a loving stepmother to Vern’s son, Ronnie, whose biological mother was not in his life.

After Vern’s passing in 1981, Audrey married (3) Bob Murphy in 1988, though this union was short-lived.

About 1992, Audrey took full custody of her only granddaughter, Jayme. Soon after Eryn’s disappearance in 1995, Audrey was diagnosed with emphysema and Pamela moved back home to help raise her by then teenaged daughter. Pamela & Jayme would also become Audrey’s caregivers as her emphysema worsened and ultimately took her life.

She passed away in 2001^[5] at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene from complications due to her emphysema. She was interred at Rest-Haven Memorial Park.^[6]
