Biography

Leodice Rivet, son of Joseph Felo Rivet and Gustavie Bourgeois, was born on 16 July 1897 in Jeanerette, Iberia Parish, Louisiana, United States.^[1]

He was enumerated as the son of Fellow Rivet (given age 35) (Rivet-534) on the 1900 census in St. Mary Parish.^[2]

Laodice Revette (given age 12) was enumerated as the son of Faloe Revette (given age 45) (Rivet-534) on the 1910 Census, living in St. Mary Parish, LA.^[3]

He married Irene Alleman, daughter of Sostenes Alleman and Elvina Babin, circa 1917 in LA.^[4][5]

Leodice and Irene were enumerated on a rented farm next to his parents in St. Mary Parish on the 1920 census. His sister-in-law Ethel Allemand (given age 8) lived with them.^[6]

He witnessed the marriage of his cousin, Rivers Rivet, to Marie Guidry on 1 June 1920 in Franklin, St. Mary Parish.^[7]

Laudis Rivette (given age 36) was enumerated as the head of a household on the 1930 census, living in St. Mary Parish, LA. Also living in the house was his wife Irene Rivette (given age 37), his son(s) Howard J. and Irene, his daughter(s) Dorothy M. and Helen M.. They rented their home near the Hyde Plantation. Laudis worked as a tractor repair man.^[5]

Laodis Rivette (given age 43) was enumerated on the 1940 census as the head of a household, living in St. Mary Parish, LA. Also living with him was his wife, Irene A Rivette (given age 46), his son Howard Rivette (given age 17), and his daughters Helen Rivette (given age 17) and Irene Rivette (given age 14). They rented their home for $3 per month. Laodis and Irene had no formal education. He was a tractor operator, and had worked 40 hours during the week before the census was taken. In 1939 he earned $240 for 30 weeks of employment.^[8]

He was left a widower in 1951 at age 54, when his wife, died in Franklin.^[9][10]

Leodice Rivet died at age 57 on 15 March 1955 in St. Mary Parish.^[11]
