Maria Riina is born around 1816 in Corleone, the daughter of Gioachino Riina and Lucia Marino. She is named after her paternal grandmother.
Lucia has died by 1825, when Gioachino remarries to Maria Gennusa.
In the 1834 stato delle anime, taken early in the year, Gioachino Riina, 44 (b. 1790), heads a household with his wife, Maria, 33 (b. 1801), and children Salvatore, 25 (b. 1809), Felice, 22 (b. 1812), Maria, 18 (b. 1816), Biagia, 16 (b. 1818), Francesco, 14 (b. 1820), Bernardo, 9 (b. 1825), Antonino, 6 (b. 1828), and Lucia, 4 (b. 1830), near the strada di Pennino.[1]
Later that year, Maria marries Biagio Puccio, son of the late Placido Puccio and the living Lucia Palermo, on 27 July 1834 in Corleone.[2]
Biagio and Maria have at least one child, Bernarda (c. 1854).
Bernarda marries Angelo Mancuso on 22 April 1884 in Corleone.[3]
