Anna Josephine was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, in 1866, the daughter of Francis and Sarah (Dexter) Richardson.[1] She was the 6th of seven children. She grew up in Winchester, where her father worked in a saw mill,[2] and attended local schools.
After graduating from Winchester High School, Annie started a teaching career in her hometown of Winchester.
She married in 1895, to Albert Frost Ireland, a builder of Newton, Massachusetts.[3] They resided in Newton, where their two children were born: Helen Gertrude in 1897, and Harold Stone in 1899. Albert passed away a few years later, and Annie returned to Winchester, where she took up teaching again. In 1914, she removed to Somerville, Massachusetts,[4] where she taught at the local Forster School.[5]
Annie died in 1956, at a Somerville nursing home. She is buried at the Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester, Mass. [6][7]
