Biography

Marie Joseph Richard was born 17 June 1718. She was the daughter of Alexandre Richard and Marie Levron. She was baptized the next day at Port Royal. Her godparents were Yves Maucaire and Marie Le Blanc.[1]

Around 1750 Paul and Marie-Josèphe decided to settle on Isle Saint-Jean (now Prince Edward Island). The family was listed on the 1752 census at Rivière-du-Moulin-à-Scie with 5 children in the household. [5]

She passed away 14 April 1796 and was buried the next day at Beaumont, Quebec.[6]

    Petit Paul Duaron, ploughman, native of l'Acadie, aged 39 years, he has been in the country two years. Married to Marie Richard, Native of l'Acadie, aged 40 years.
    They have one son and four daughters:-
    Paul Michel Duaron, aged 12 years.
    Marie Joseph, aged 15 years.
    Margueritte Modest, aged 8 years.
    Elizabeth, aged 5 years.
    Judith, aged 7 months.
    And in live stock one pig and seven fowls. The land upon which they are settled is situated on the creek à Dubuisson, it was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure; on the said land they have made a clearing of two arpents in extent.
