Biography
Michael Rhyno was born about 1802 in Halifax County, Nova Scotia; according to his son Frederick's death record, Michael was born in Herring Cove.[1]
He was a fisherman.
Michael married Mary King on February 14th, 1829 at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Halifax.[2][3] They had 6 known children together in Herring Cove.
In his later years, as a widower, he lived in Halifax with his son William.
Research Notes
Michael was referred to as "Michael Jr." on some church records. This, together with the fact that he doesn't seemingly fit in any other Rhyno/Ryno/Reyno family of the area, make it very likely that he was the child of Melchoir "Michael" Reyno and Letitia Brackett.
This counts on this 1838 census entry[4] is consistent with Michael and his young family living with his widowed mother "Mrs. Michael Reyno".
His date of death is unknown; his last known record is the 1871 census.
