John Andres (Andress, Andreas, Andrew) one of the pioneers of Nescopeck (now Conyngham) Town ship, was born at Heidelberg. Township, Northampton County. Pennsylvania. He was the son of .Martin Jr., and Anna Maria (Reber) Andres. (It is thought that Anna Maria was the daughter of John and Elisabeth Reber.) He was baptized on July 4, 1790, at Schlosser's Union Church. Whitehall Township.
Martin Andres. Jr.. married about 1780-81, Anna Maria Reber. Their known children were: Salome, Anna Maria. Daniel. Elizabeth, John, John Philip, Magdalcna, and Catharina. Three of their children married and came to the Wapwallopen region as pioneers. They were: Anna Maria, born October 19, 1783, the wife of John Fenster- macher; Elizabeth, born October 29, 1785, the wife of John Peters; John, born May 13, 1790, the progenitor of the local branch of the Andres (Andreas) family, died August 12, 1875, Elizabeth his wife, born Decem ber 4. 1790, died May 4, 1856. April 5, 1817.
