Ann was born in Ockley in 1835. She was the daughter of William Rapley and Mary Hersey

The 1841 census shows the surname as Ripley . Though the family names and dates are confirmed as the Rapleys of Ockley.
1851 she is living in Reigate, Surrey, England. Her aunt Sarah also lives in Reigate, as had her grandparents the Wickhams. Ann is named as a servant at the White Hart hotel in Reigate and along with her employer EG Wakefield, they lived in a suite/cottage in the grounds. The obituary to Ann's death tells of her being present when the famous EGW painting with his hounds was painted.
The family migrated to NZ with EG Wakefield in 1852 on the Minerva. Arriving in Lyttleton.
She married Harry William Godfrey 28 May 1856 in Christchurch, NZ[2]
They had 13 Children in Papanui, Christchurch where they lived for the next 34 years:

In about 1890 they moved with the younger children to Pahiatua, where father and son Harry together ran a joinery and carpentry business.
She died in 1922 and is buried in Mangatainoka cemetery with her husband [3]
