In the 1880 census, Francis (age 3) was the daughter of Franklin B. Pugh in Election Precinct 14 Clarksville, Clarke, Alabama.^[1]

In the 1900 census, Francis (age 23) and Frank were living in Tallahatta Springs, Clarke, Alabama. See the research notes section for why I believe this is the correct census report despite errors and a difficult-to-read forename.^[3]

Frances died on April 12, 1908, and was buried in Clarke, Alabama.^[4]

Research Notes

The 1900 Census has several mistakes but is most likely correct for Frank and Frances. I looked at it carefully.

Why I think it's correct: 1. They had been married less than one year in the census, which matches their marriage record of 1899. 2. They are living right next to Frank's parents, perhaps even on the same property. 3. Franks's uncles, brothers, and grandmother are also living nearby, on the same census page. 4. Frank's birth month and year are correct, and Frances' birth year is correct. Here are the problems 1. Frances' birth month is incorrect, 2. Frank's name doesn't look like Frank, although there are notes written over the top of it. If you squint enough, it could say Frank. The census indexed his name as Durante.
