Biography

John Profozich and Alojzija Milasincic were married in 1914, following the sudden death of John’s first wife, Agatha, in 1913. John had several children from his first marriage (Anna, John, Kate, Stephen and Joe) who were very young and were naturally grieving the loss of their mother. John and Alojzija immediately had a large family of their own (Charlie, Mary, Rudy, Josie, Paul, Aggie and Dorothy) and lived in a small home on Seavey Road in Shaler Township from the 1920s until John Profozich’s death in 1951.

County Worker Dies on Park Job

Retirement Plans Smashed by Death

John Profozich, a County employee for the past 21 years, was getting ready to retire soon.

The 65-year-old Etna immigrant wanted to make his later life a little more secure. He'd managed to save some money over the years and he wanted to apply it toward a retirement fund.

Caretaker of Buffalo Herd

But he never got to take out the policy. He was carrying the money -- approximately $1,000 -- in his wallet yesterday when he collapsed of a heart attack at North Park.

Mr. Profozich, who came to this country 38 years ago from Austria-Hungary, had worked at the County park the past 15 years. He was caretaker of the buffalo herd until it was moved to other stomping grounds.

Lately, he'd been cutting wood for use at picnic sites. Park police said he had paused to have a cigarette when stricken yesterday.
