Biography

• Anselme Amand Pothier was the son of Charles Amand Pothier and Marguerite d'Entremont.^[1]
  He was born in the late 18th century in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia^{[2] [3]}
  He married Madeleine Duon, the daughter of Augustin Duon and Natalie Amirault, on October 23, 1815 at Ste. Anne du Ruisseau in Eel Brook, Nova Scotia.^[4]
  
• The couple had 13 children^[5]: Simon Romain, Marie Elizabeth, Mathurin, Marie Rosalie, Francoise, Jeanne, Placide, Melanie, Hilaire, Avite, Anne Adelaide, Marie Madeleine, and Cyriaque.^[5]
  The births of the first five children were found in Father Sigogne's census of 1816-1824.^[5]
  Anselme Amand's youngest child was born March 15, 1841;
• He died between May and June 1855, as his will was signed on May 12, 1855 and an Affidavit of Marc and Remi Pothier was filed on June 19, 1855 in the Probate Court of Nova Scotia.^[6] His will granted all of his property to his five remaining sons as long as they cared for his wife, Madeleine. His will further granted 36 dollars to be divided equally among his six remaining daughters. He named Henri and Marc Pothier joint executors of his will.^[7]
