Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests. Here is my family tree.
Maternal side is mostly English, Scottish, French, Irish, Swiss, and German. The majority of my Mother's family came over in the 1600's to 1700's. Paternal is German. Most were born in Russia in the Volga German region, then came from the Southeast to East side of Germany or Prussia in the mid 1700's. Trying to piece together the Volga Germans to Prussia. I am most interested in helping find the stories of the individuals who are family. The 1700's is very intriguing.

Hi Kelly, I removed Missouri Hamlet from Joshua Campen Tucker's profile. He is my 2nd great-grandfather (on my birth father's side) and I have no evidence he had a child by this name. Also, I removed Louella Marine from both Joshua's profile and his wife's profile (Mary America Thurmond). Their eldest daughter was named Ella. She's in my Ancestry GEDCOM upload and WikiTree found no matches here for her. I just haven't gotten so far yet as to add her to WikiTree. Louella might be a match but there is insufficient evidence of this currently. Though my WikiTree data is fairly new, I have been working on my tree on Ancestry for over 20 years. I just updated my data on Ella there and still found no match to Louella. You might want to reach out to her profile manager, Devin Carraway, to see if he has any additional information. If between the three of us we find sufficient sources proving a match, we can re-match the profiles at that time.

However, thank you for adding James Jordan Thurmond and Leah Hudspeth as Mary America's parents. They match my Ancestry tree and are in my GEDCOM upload. I just hadn't made it far enough yet to add profiles for them to WikiTree yet to complete the GEDCOM data. I haven't edited the profiles you created yet because I show a different birth location for James and I have parents for Leah, from another Tucker relative's application for the Sons of the American Revolution, but one of them may be a match to an existing WikiTree profile managed by another user and I need to check that out first.

In addition to these ancestors, I have quite a few additional relatives for each, all in my GEDCOM upload, but it will take me time to add them (if not yet in WikiTree) or match them to and, if needed, edit and existing profile. I am also simultaneously updating my Ancestry tree and including those additional edits here. This part of my tree is lower priority for me at the moment as I am still working on filling in all the siblings and their families for the ancestors I have already matched or added. In the meantime, if you find you have additional sources for any profile I manage, feel free to add those. But if you would like to make changes to any profile I manage, I would really appreciate it if you could reach out to me first by private message or by public comment on my profile. Thanks!

Hi Kelly! I removed the obituary of Margaret McCarthy (1928–2012) from the profile of Patrick McCarty (c. 1831–c. 1863), as he wouldn't have fathered a child 65 years after his estimated death.

Regarding the source you added to Rochelle-275. It seems highly unlikely that a woman born in 1750 had a daughter that would marry in 1893, some 140 years after her birth. Can you revisit the information?

Thanks for the information about Cotham ancestry. I would suggest you document your research on a free-space page as the American Cotham line I studied ends in the mid 1700s and the source you mentioned covers English Cothams more than a century earlier. I never could find solid evidence that those lines merged anywhere so Cotham-156 is not the right place for your research. If you decide to make a free space page make sure you categorize that page for the appropriate century and location.

Kelly, there were tidbits of information, which gave me enough information to look up 3 more sources for your man. He did immigrate to Jamestown Colony, leaving England 1609 on the ship Hercules. I have listed both 1624 muster sources and the full muster listing.. That makes William Julian capable to have the Jamestown sticker. Look at his profile.

This page https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Jamestown,_Virginia_Colony has all the sources for proving a Jamestown immigrant. You might want to Bookmark it. I did look up to see if he was on the other Jamestown Society list, but he is not..

Your question- about "if he came in 1624 , would that rule him out of being from Jamestown. No, if he came in 1624, and was on the 1624 muster he would qualify."

But he departed England 1609, arrliving prob 1610.!!!! I found his name on the ship list. The category was created for date of departure from England for any ship..

Mary, thank you!

Reading the site you gave me, said he could qualify as a Resident. R - Resident or landowner, pre-1625 (anywhere in Virginia). He is not listed on the site. Are we still adding more names or families?

The reason I am asking is because his wife is my 9th or 10th GGM. She had children with William Shipp. They are listed in Julian's will as his benefactors. I need to do some more digging. On one site I saw a source for a ship manifest that had them coming over with their Mother.

It amazes me how many ancestors were in the same small Jamestown region, within a hundred years married or followed the same migration and then married in the early 1800's. Hopefully I can connect everyone with these resources you gave me. Thank you! Kelly

Hi Mary,

I found a couple of relatives that arrived in the Jamestown area around 1624. I found a couple of book sources on Genealogy Gopher and I want to verify ship manifests. Here is the wiki profile and his wife Sarah. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Julian-21 It was a GED com file and I adopted it to add sources. Also, when they came over in ships they dropped them off in specific areas such as Elizabeth City. I was reading one of the source books intro's and it said they created 8 counties or shires when they arrived. So if they came in 1624 when the King of England took over from the Virginia company, is this still considered an original Jamestown arrival? Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Your message was actually from the 1776 link. Since you said you were active on Virginia profiles, I have marked you active for Southern Colonies for this 6 month period.

For PPP profiles of Southern Colonies: usually this is to deter merges and deter editing of these profiles without good sources linked to the edits. (You cannot do this at all on the Google groups.) If the edit is a large edit, it is good to post a message at the bottom of that profile page. Then any edit of these just like other profiles, should be documented in the horizontal above the Biography to show why you are editing.. All edits and changes are reflected in the Changes section.

The Google groups are for communication with all of Southern Colonies members. When you send a message on Google group, all members will receive it. This is the link for that. https://groups.google.com/g/wikitree-us-southern-colonies

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus. Review the project pages for special guidelines and to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hello,

I am pleased to confirm you as a member. Now you can start adding your family members.

WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to make your way around more easily.

New Member Pages

Next week you'll hear from a Member who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

I hope you love the features here as much as I do. Happy searching!

Emma ~~ Wiki Greeter

P.S. Some people have trouble accessing the new member link from their email. If this happens, you can click on it from your profile page.

Hello Kelly,

To add your family members to the global family of WikiTree, you will need to first become a full member. Currently, you are a guest member and to change that, go to your Navigation Home Page and follow the prompts to complete a few Tags indicating your genealogical interests and follow that by volunteering to become a WikiTree genealogist.

When you volunteer, a Greeter will convert your membership status from guest to full member and provide you with a comprehensive tutorial called New Member How To Pages. These are great tools to start your journey in WikiTree. Some guests have trouble with this process and if you find that happening for you, please contact me again and we can work together to get your status to full member.

Hello!

The confirmation for WikiTree Guest access comes to you as an email, so you need to check your inbox and spam folder. If you cannot find the email, a new confirmation email can be generated at E-mail confirmation problems. This is all a process for the WikiTree server to become acquainted with your email server and vice versa so the computers can route the emails properly, so this process is primarily done by the machines with a little help from you. Please let me know if you have any questions about this or anything about WikiTree.  :-)

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.

Welcome!

This is just a note to say hi and to let you know that I'm available to answer questions about joining WikiTree.

To contact me, click the link to my name above, then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.
