Biography

Stephen was born in 1765.[1] He was the son of James Pierce and Beulah King. He was married to Elizabeth LNU (abt.1762-1835) and they had four children:

  1. Chancey Pierce (1796-)
  2. Prosper Alphimus Pierce (1798-1875)
  3. Sopha (Pierce) Clapp (1800-abt.1834)
  4. Oristis Pierce (1802-1832)

Stephen passed away in 1854.[2]

Research Notes

  1. There is one birth record for Oristis Pierce, son of Stephen and Betsey Pierce,[3] and one death record for Aretas Pierce, son of Stephen and Elizabeth Pierce.[4] The death record lists Aretas' age as 30 in 1832, making his birth year about 1802. They are almost certainly the same two men but there is no strong primary evidence to confirm.
