Robin, I apologize to you and to all wikitreers. I discovered that I erred some time ago in assigning Elizabeth Paxton as a wife to Samuel Cunningham Houston, and in trying to remedy the problem I made things worse, then tried to fix those problems. And then I realized I should have corresponded with others before doing anything at all so I stopped, although I know there are still a couple of issues that need to be corrected. I'm truly sorry. Thank you very much for your polite note and efforts to make sure the Wikitree work is clean.

Hi Barbara, You may want to read through https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Communication_Before_Editing and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Change_Explanations Please remember that at WikiTree we collaborate, you have made a lot of relationship changes in the Houston family where I manage profiles with no explanation or collaboration. While I think everything is OK, it would be better if you did some communication next time. Thanks for all your efforts!

What if there are duplicate profiles for the same person?

We don't delete duplicates, we merge them.

Merging ensures that the Trusted List, activity feeds, and any unique information on the duplicate profile will not be lost. Links and connections to the old profile are automatically updated and redirected.

This may not seem as clean and easy, especially when a duplicate doesn't appear to have any quality content worth preserving. However, it's the only way to avoid confusing dead-ends.

Any problems with merging contact the WikiTree team in the help menu.

Hi Barbara!

A warm welcome to WikiTree. It is my privilege to confirm you as a full member. Now you can add your family to our Shared Tree!

Important: Check out our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

I hope you find your WikiTree experience as fruitful and enjoyable as I have. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
