Hippolyte Picot migrated from France to the United States.

Hippolyte Charles Picot was born in 1822 in France. He married Hortense Picaut^[1] and they had at least three children together, August Emile, Lucille, and Adolphe. The Picot-Picaut families were heavily involved in the fancy feather business. They lived first in Brooklyn, briefly relocated to Boston MA (between about 1863-1869) and the returned to New York City.

Charles became a naturalized citizen in 1859, in New York City. There is a shared headstone for him and his wife that implies that he died in 1873. In 1874, Hortense appears by herself in the city directory, but she also appears by herself in the 1860s, so this may not be a sound indicator of his death.
