August Emile Picot was born in February 1861 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States, son of Hippolyte Charles Picot and Hortense Picaut. He married the widow Kate (Feeny) Michaels in 1885. Together they had at least five children.
August came from a family that worked in feather production, dying, and selling in New York City dating back to the 1870s. By 1900, however, he was working as a foreman of city street cleaning. He passed away in 1902.
