Robert George Peters was born on 1 September 1890, his birth registered between Oct-Dec 1890 at Totnes, Devon, England.^[1] Robert was baptised on 8 February 1891 at Dartmouth, St Saviour, Devon. He was the son of William Harry Peters and Sarah Andrews.^[2]

George served during the Great War as Private George Peters, Service No: 11279, with the Devonshire Regiment, 1st Battalion. He was Killed in Action on 26 September 1916, aged 25, in France and Flanders in the Western European Theatre of War^[7] and is buried at Thiepval Memorial Cemetery, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.^[8]
