Joseph Poirier was born on Sept 12 1862, and baptised Sep 23, 1862 in Sandy Point, Newfoundland[1]. His father's name was Benjamin Poirier.
The name listed for his mother was "Celeste Sarah Marche", which would make him the son of the man currently connected as his grandfather. There is a transcriber's note, by Laverne Cormier stating that his mother's name should have been "Madeleine Benoit". Laverne Cormier is from this family and has done much of the transcription for Sandy Point records, so probably knows best.
