Biography

Martha Jane Perkins, born on January 10, 1791, in South Carolina, was the daughter of Adam B. Perkins and Pernecia (Davis) Perkins. Her early years were spent in South Carolina, where she grew up.

On May 21, 1808, Martha Jane embarked on a new chapter in her life by marrying John Craig Dodd in Livingston County, Kentucky. This union marked the beginning of a lifelong journey together.

The 1850 census records show Martha Jane residing in District 1, Graves County, Kentucky. Here, she was living with her family, marking her presence in the region during this period.

By 1860, Martha Jane and her family had moved, and they were living near the Mayfield post office in Graves County, Kentucky, reflecting another phase in her life's journey.

Tragically, Martha Jane Perkins Dodds passed away on July 4, 1862, in Kentucky. Her final resting place is at Dodds Cemetery in Calloway County, Kentucky, marking the end of a life that spanned several decades and experiences.
