Jennie's first husband, Vincenzo Vutera, was killed in a shootout in New Orleans in 1902. Her four oldest children are from her first marriage. Dominic and his older sister Rosalie were born to her second marriage.[2]
In 1910, Dominick lives with his parents and the father of his mother's first husband, who is also his mother's great-uncle, and his older half-siblings' grandfather. In the federal census taken 6 May of Police Jury Ward 1, Iberville Parish, Louisiana, on the Dorceyville road, Vincenzo Perano, 34 (b. 1876), heads a household with his wife of four years (m. 1906), Jennie, 35 (b. 1875), both born in Italy. It is his first marriage and her second. She has had two children, both living. At home are Vincenzo’s step-children: Mary Ventro (Vutera), 14 (b. 1896), Francesca, 13 (b. 1897), Luca, 10 (b. 1900), and Lucy, 8 (b. 1902); and children Rosalie, 3 (b. 1907), and Dominick, 1 yr 7 mos (b. Oct 1908). The children were all born in Louisiana. Also in the household is father-in-law Luca Vutro, 63 (b. 1847), a widower, born in Italy. Vincenzo emigrated in 1898 and Luca in 1890; Luca is naturalized. Vincenzo is a grocery store keeper working on his own account.[3]
In the 1920 federal census of Ward 10, South and West Texas and Pacific R.R., in Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, taken 2/3 February, Vincenzo Piranio, 43 (b. 1877), heads a household with his wife Jinnie, 47 (b. 1873), both born in Italy. He emigrated in 1900 and she in 1897. With them are his stepdaughter, Lucy Vutero, 17 (b. 1903), and Vincenzo’s children Rosalia, 13 (b. 1907), and Dominic, 11 (b. 1909). The children were born in Louisiana of Italian parents. Vincenzo is a general farmer working on his own account.[4]
Dominick Peranio, born in 1907, registers to vote in Orleans Parish, LA on 31 December 1929. He was born in Louisiana. He is 22 years old, lives at 1664 Granes. Is a grocer and head of household. He has been in the parish since 1924 and the precinct since 1927. Registered Democrat.[5]
Dominic marries Stella Gueho around 1929. They have two children, twins Marie and Ruby/Joyce, born around 1932.
In the 1930 federal census of Ward 10, Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, taken 2 April, Dominick Peranio, 21 (b. 1909), heads a household on Jefferson Hwy/US-71 with wife Stella, 18 (b. 1912). They married at 20 and 17. He is a laborer at odd jobs. Their close neighbors include his half-sister Lucy and her husband Charles Vincent Paternostro, Stella's parents, and his own.[6]
In the 1940 federal census of Fordoche Village, Police Jury Ward 10, Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana, taken 2-3 April, Dominic Peranio, 31 (b. 1909), heads a household on the gravel road in Fordoche West J & R RR. Based on his neighbors, he is in the same place as in 1930. With him are his wife Stella, 28 (b. 1912), and daughters Marie, 8 (b. 1932), and Ruby, 8 (b. 1932), all born in Louisiana. Dominic is a farm laborer. He owns his home, worth $300. One of their next-door neighbors are Dominic's parents. Stella's mother lives two doors down. His sister's family still lives nearby.[7]
Dominick Peranio registers for the draft for WWII on 16 October 1940. He lives in Fordoche, Pt. Coupee, LA. He is 32, born 28 September 1908 in White Castle, Louisiana. His contact is Mrs. Dominick Peranio, his wife, who lives in the same town. He is employed by E. I. Dupont De Nemeurs & Co in Baton Rouge. Dominick is 5’7.5” and 160# with gray eyes, brown hair, and a ruddy complexion. He has a scar under his neck.[1]

Dominic, a resident of Fordoche, Louisiana, dies at age 84 on 19 September 1992.[9][10]
He is buried in Saint Francis Cabrini Cemetery in Livonia, Pointe Coupee, LA, with his wife. His dates of life are inscribed on his tombstone. His obituary is reprinted in his FindAGrave biography. He died in Baton Rouge General Medical Center, a native resident of Fordoche. Survived by his wife Stella Gueho Peranio, 2 daughters, Joyce P. Leon and Marie P. Zito, both of Fordoche; two sisters, Lucy Paternostro in Fordoche and Rosalie Ferraro in Narco. His parents were Charlie and Genevieve Peranio. He was predeceased by a brother and 3 sisters.[11]
