Biography

Tecla Pemberton

She was born about 1592, being baptised at St Albans, Hertfordshire, England on 27 Sep 1592. She is the daughter of Roger Pemberton. [1]
Her father Roger Pemberton died in 1627, leaving a will as of "Roger Pemberton of St Albans, Hertfordshire, Esquire". [2] The will makes it clear that Tecla is by that time the wife of Robert Wooley of St Albans. It leaves bequests of rings to Tecla and her husband Robert. The will also leaves a bequest to their eldest daughter Ellen Woolley, who was baptised at St Albans in 1611. [3] An inquisition post mortem was conducted for Roger Pemberton at Chipping Barnet on 17 May 1628. [4] It recites lands called Someryes devised for use of Tecla. Her child William Wooley is also mentioned.
Her brother Robert Pemberton died in 1628, leaving a will written 20th May 1628 as "Robert Pemberton of St Albans, Hertfordshire, gentleman". He bequeathed Tecla , her husband Robert Wooley and their children Ellen and Robert Woolley mourning rings. [5]
She died in 1676, being buried at St Albans, Hertfordshire on 2 Aug 1676 as "Mrs Tecla Woolley, widow." [6]
