Biography
Bessie was born in 1866[1] and baptised 3 Feb 1867, daughter of John and Caroline Pearse[2]
In the 1871 census, Caroline Pearce (34, married miners wife born Roach), children Richard Jno (11), Amelia (9), Edwin (7), Bessie Maria (4) and Jane Ann (3), all born Quethiock, are living at "Tochunest village", Quethiock[3]
In the 1881 census, John Pearce (54, lead miner born Kenwon), wife Frances (52 born St Austell) and unmarried children Richard (21 born Quethiock), Edwin (17 born Quethiock), Bessie (14 born Quethiock), Jane Ann (13 born Quethiock), grandson James Whitford (2 born Pwllheli, Caernarvonshire) and lodgers Thomas Morgan (24) and John Andrews (21) are living at Old Chapel House, Pwllheli, Caernarvonshire, Wales[4]

In the 1901 census, Bessie M Jones (36, widow born Quith, Cornwall) is a servant in the household of Robert Roberts (65, widowed tin miner born Beddgelert) and Richard Roberts (30, coach driver born Beddgelert) in Beddgelert , Festiniog, Caernarvonshire, Wales[7]
Bessie Maria Jones married either David William Roberts or David Richard Thomas in 1903, Festiniog[8]
Research Notes
There is no obvious Bessie Thomas in the 1911 UK census, and no possible Bessie Roberts (searched born 1866+/- 2years in Cornwall)
There is no death for Bessie M Thomas or Roberts after 1903
The Bessie Vaughn Jones Roberts who died aged 37 on 21 Dec 1903 in Festiniog was the wife of William Vaughn Roberts, surgeon of Minafon, High Street, Festiniog. There is a marriage matching this in 1893.
There is a Bessie Thomas, widow born 17 Dec 1866 living alone in Mylor Bridge, Falmouth in the 1939 register (incorrectly indexed as Truro)[9]. She died aged 74 in 1941[10]. The same Bessie Thomas is in the 1911 census, widowed, born in St Gluvias, with three children all born in Liverpool[11] But none can be found in the GRO records with mothers-maiden-name of "Pearce". She also was the mother of 9 children, 4 surviving: that would be a tall order for Bessie who first married at 25 and was twice widowed by 44.
There is a David William Roberts born Festiniog 1871, but he dies aged 2.
