Hi Vaughan

I notice you have been doing some work on New Zealand Unsourced profiles. Are you a New Zealander? Would you like to join the New Zealand Project?

Just a hint - if you add ~~~~ after your research notes, it produces a digital signature.

"recorded under some imaginative phonetic rendition of his German surname"!

Quite a lot of my family emigrated from Prussia around 1840. I must remember this useful phrase. Thankyou, Steve Thomas.

You're welcome Steve. Must be immensely frustrating. Regards, Vaughan Niven

It was 5 years ago when I joined Wikitree.

Now I enjoy solving the variation puzzles and have helped a number of Wikitree members find their family connections in Germany. Cheers, Steve.

Hello, Vaughan!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Vaughan,

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

From what I've seen Wikitree has the potential to be the most powerful genealogy research tool on the internet. Looking forward to when I can upload my research and move beyond being a guest member.
