Biography
John was born in Danzig (now Gdansk), West Prussia. 27 Jan 1841 Gdansk, Pomorskie, Poland. He was the son of Christopher Nisbet and Marianne von Boehm Nisbet. [1]
He worked for most of his life as a cotton factor in Savannah, Ga.
In 1870, he married Virginia Lord King (1837-1901), whose father, Thomas Butler King (1800-1864), had been a prominent antebellum planter and Whig politician from St. Simon's Island, Ga.
In the 1870 census John (age 30), Cotton Merchant, was in Savannah Division 21, Chatham, Georgia.[2]
In the 1880 census John (age 38), Cotton merchant, was the married head of household in Savannah, Chatham, Georgia, United States.[3]
In the 1910 census John (age 69), Exporter, was the widowed head of household in Savannah Ward 3, Chatham, Georgia, United States.[4]
He passed away 4 Nov 1917 (aged 76) and was buried Bonaventure Cemetery Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia, USA Find A Grave: Memorial #79990823
