Christopher Nisbet was born in 1795 in Ancroft, Northumberland, England, son of John Nisbet ( –1808). Christopher was baptized 28 Jun 1795 in Ancroft, Northumberland, England. [1] Christopher, son of John Nesbit & Isabella Urpeth, was baptised on 28 Jun 1795 in Ancroft, Northumberland, England.[2]
He married 6 Sep 1839 East Prussia[3] to Mariana Boehm 1817–1902. Christopher Nisbet's German wife, Marianne Boehm, came of a family that for several generations had owned wide estates in both East and West Prussia, also vessels that traded as far as Mediterranean ports.
He passed away 6 Feb 1857 and was buried 11 Feb 1857 Marienkirche, Deutschland (Germany) [4]
Nephew Christopher Nisbet in Danzig for the purpose of learning his business there. The elder Nisbet was an important citizen of Danzig being a large grain merchant in the Baltic. He married a Miss Boehm and had three sons and three daughters. John and Fritz went out to the United States, Christopher to Germany. One of the daughters, " Nanny " Nisbet, became Almoner to the Empress Friedrich in Berlin, another married the Baron von Budenoch and the third, Henrietta, married Herr Aschmann
He is claimed to be a cadet of the Chieftain family of the Nisbet Scotch-English border Clan, with a claimed incorrect recorded family tree reaching back to the tenth century.
