JOHN M. NEMECEK[8] Freeville - John M. Nemecek, 59, of 722 W. Dryden Road, Freeville, died Wednesday Feb 11, 1987, at Tompkins Community Hospital. He was born in Asbury, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Wagner Nemecek.
He attended Dryden High School and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He was employed as a welder at Ames Welding of Ithaca. Mr. Nemecek was an avid square dancer.
He is survived by his wife Norma Taylor Nemecek of Freeville; a daughter, Cheryl Nemecek of Freeville; a son, Michael Nemecek of Lansing; a brother, Frank Nemecek of Watertown; a half-brother, James Broz of McComb, Miss.; five sisters, Mrs. Anthony (Josephine) Cudlin of Homeland, Calif., Mrs. Martin (Helen) Bernardi of Ithaca, Mrs. James (Rose) Todd of Summerhill, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Brabic of greenwich, and Mrs. Russell (Betty) Adams of Corland; two grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A grandson, Jason Howard, died in 1984.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Sunday, Feb 15, at the Perkins Funeral Home, Dryden, with the Rev. Paul Pitkin of the United Methodist Church of Lansing, officiating.
Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, in the spring.
He woud enlist on the 7th of December 1945, as part of the WWII efforts, and be released on the 25th of October 1947[9]
