Biography

Bernarda Natoli is born 22 March 1877 in Corleone and baptized two days later. She is the daughter of Emanuele Natoli and Lucia Merendino. Her godparents are Gaspare Merendino and Pietra Merendino, who is unmarried.[1]

Bernarda marries Giuseppe Armato, the son of Pasquale Armato and Bernarda Colletti, on 10 October 1897 in Corleone.[2]

Bernarda and Giuseppe have one known child, Bernarda (1898).

Giuseppe is a member of Morello's counterfeiting crew. Together with the brothers Leoluca Vasi and Pasquale Vasi, they handle the money. The three are arrested in their home at 1600 3rd Ave in New York. Over $1,000 in counterfeit $2 bills are found there. Giuseppe and at least four others secure bail and are released.[5]

Giuseppe is found guilty of possessing and distributing counterfeit bills.

His sentence and where it was served are not known. He registers for the draft from New York City, and makes two return trips from Sicily to New York in which he claims that Bernarda lives in Corleone on via Sabatino.
