Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with anyone who shares the same genealogical or historical interests. Here is my family tree.
One of the reason I am interested in Genealogy is my love of History and Genealogy is just a way to make History personal. Another reason would be having grown up as part of a nomadic military family I never really had a place to be able to answer the question where are you from? Genealogy is a way for me to answer that in a more broad way.

I live on PEI but my family's Canadian origins are from Nova Scotia, from before that my origins are on the British Isles with my mothers' side being Scottish and my father's being Irish. Hence I like to refer to myself as a Celtic Canadian

If you need help exploring Canadian records or trying to track your Scottish or Irish Imigrant ancestors I'm here to help.

Hi Brian,

It is once again time for our annual Ireland Project check-in. Please respond within the next three weeks to let us know:

  1. If you would like to continue as an Ireland Project member. If your answer is yes, please tell us if you are happy with your current team, or if you would prefer to join a different one. If you are currently participating in more than one team we would appreciate you ranking them in their order of importance to you, from highest priority to lowest. This information will be helpful as we consider possible future changes to our team structure.
  2. In the past, the project has had a very minimal membership requirement (one contribution per year) for badged members to meet. Do you believe this is adequate, or should this requirement be increased? What do you believe would be a reasonable commitment to expect from all project members?
  3. How active have you been in the Ireland Project over the past year? Please choose one of the following options: a) I normally spend 1-5 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. b) I normally spend 6-10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. c) I spend over 10 hours per month helping achieve my team’s goals. d) I am not able to contribute every month but have spent approximately ________ hours during the past year improving Irish profiles.
  4. Please provide feedback on any things you’d like to see the project do more of in the future.

You can respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within the next three weeks we’ll assume your interests have changed or you no longer are able to participate in the Ireland Project at this time, and your badge will be removed. If your circumstances change later you will be welcome to reapply for membership.

Many thanks for all that so many of you have contributed to the project in the past year, and very special thanks to those who answered the project’s call and gave generously of their time to be part of Team Seanchaithe during the most recent connect-a-thon. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Thank you, Brian, for replying and agreeing to look into this. I agree that there are other possibilities for which Halifax he meant.

I thought that Halifax, Nova Scotia, might be the one since John’s father, James Smith, could have been in Canada in the period just prior to 1818 as part of British forces. The records that I have found for James’ service in the military have been inconclusive. I would welcome any help that you may be able to give me. Vernon Smith

Hi Brian, I am hoping to take advantage of your offer to help with Canadian records. My 2ggrandfather was John Smith (Smith-65325) who claimed in several Censuses to have been born in Halifax, N. America, which I am taking to mean Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have been trying for years to find any evidence of this birth. I even paid a researcher based in Halifax to find a record. She did not succeed, but I have a feeling that perhaps she did not try very hard. I would welcome any help that you may be able to provide.

Thanks, Vernon Smith

Sorry Vernon just seeing this for some reason didn't see in in my email. I will I am just wondering if it could be Halifax County North Carolina.

Hello Brian,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).
